Comfort

Write 31 days, 31 days of 5 minute free writes, writing

I have spent a lot of time this summer reading and re-reading 1 and 2 Corinthians. There are so many things packed into these two Epistles that Paul wrote to the church at Corinth.
They had major issues to deal with - so do we today. As I have read these chapters there are some key themes that jump off the page at me. One of those is the comfort we receive from God through Christ.

Comfort from God is sometimes like a soft warm blanket on a chilly day. It wraps you inside and you relax. You feel at home, at rest. In 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 we are reminded that God comforts us so we can comfort others when they are in distress. Take that warm soft blanket and wrap it around your friend today. Hard day, sick child, run away puppy? Maybe their trials are even more difficult, lost job, struggling marriage, life-threatening illness. Those tough things are not too tough for God.

May you find comfort today so that tomorrow (or next week or next month) you can share that comfort with those who need it most.

Find rest, find peace, be comforted. God loves you!
