Follow

Christian living, 31 day writing challenge, follow

Who are you following? Today it is common to hear the term followers when talking about social media. How many Twitter followers do you have, or who follows you on Pinterest? But what we really need to be focusing on is who we are following.

Paul admonished the early church to follow him as he followed Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1 NIV) That means they needed to compare Paul's words and actions to what they knew of Christ. Today we are fortunate to be able to reference Christ's word at any time of the day, either in our print Bible or online. We have no excuse for not checking to see if those leaders we are following are following Christ. God calls us to be doers of the word and not hears only. (James 1:22) No matter how good the pastor at your church is at teaching from the Bible, God is calling each of us to study His Word for ourselves. To follow closely in the steps of Jesus.

One of my favorite books is Charles M. Sheldon's In His Steps. Each time I read it I am reminded that God has a path for each of our lives, to follow Him in whatever circumstances we find ourselves in. May you find your path as you read and study His Word.

May you be blessed this week as you follow Christ.
