Title: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Author: Lewis Carroll
Published: 1865
Genre: Children’s, fantasy, adventure
Summary: Down, down, down, the rabbit hole, lots of people know the story. Alice falls down the rabbit hole and ends up in a world quite different from ours. It's kind of hard to summarize the story because the plot is kind of all over but that is half of the charm.
What I liked about it: Whimsy is them best word to use, I think. I love the ordered randomness of the story, the book has so many strange and cool characters. Alice is a little stupid as she gets told many times, but one can’t expect that one would have their own head put on straight if you were stuck in someplace as strange as Wonderland. And besides her there are plenty of other really crazy cool characters.
Language: None
Romance: None
Violence: None
Magic: I’m not exactly sure how to describe Wonderland, it is obviously not normal, and yet there is not really any obvious magic town around like in most magical books.
Recommended Age: Well, like other books this is one to be read many times over your life. It is fun for kids but I personally think it gets better every time I read it. However I think 5-7 is a good age for a first read aloud.
