Story

freeform poetry, five minute writes, life

Life is not lived along a line
from here to there

It twists and turns
goes up and down
and all around the bends and berms

You stretch and reach
while others teach
how to get past roadblocks
and doors that are locked

Life is not lived along a line
from here to there

Life travels cross the oceans wide
while emotions try to hide
your frustrations and desires

You feel your breath escape
as mountains challenge
and valleys quake

At times you wonder
where is there?
And can I ever reach it?

Life is a journey
that is sure
to test you and to try

But along the paths
you find some friends
and joy is found again

You do not wish for here or there
instead enjoying the in-betweens
where life is lived in full

Those twists and turns
become your story
that leads another forward

You become the one
who offers hope
of life with meaning
when words tell your story

What if?

What if
your life
was just a smudged up blackboard?

What if there was
no way
to begin
again?

But wait...

What if you remembered
that there are
second chances
that there is forgiveness?

Would you live differently
the second time around?

or

Would you make the same mistakes
all over again?

Our lives are built
one decision
at a time

Will you decide to
accept the forgiveness
that Jesus offers?

Will you decide to
begin again?

or

Are you comfortable
being stuck
with no hope?

Choose hope
choose life
choose Jesus.

The Unspoken Words

poetry, encouragement, words

I cannot un-say those words I just said

I cannot un-send that text
or delete the email I sent this morning

and sometimes
that makes me ponder...
should I speak at all?

Even if someone construes my words wrong
or misunderstands my thoughts
does that mean
they are not worth saying?

We may have a difference of opinion
you may want to go right and I want to go left
can we still get along?
Are we able to look beyond the words
and see the person inside?

Can we think before we speak
can we choose our words wisely?
There is value in relationships
worth and strength in being heard.

May I never leave these words unspoken:
you are important to me
You are loved

I value our talks
Jesus Loves you

Let's be friends
